Fight Or Flight: A South Side Story
Forbidden love and fierce rivalry drive Jeff Hollister, a street-smart high school senior and gang leader of the Hurricanes, to the brink of disaster. Thinking he’s got the world in his back pocket, and the police at a safe distance, he and his scrappy gang of teenage delinquents come to discover they don’t always come out on top after all.
Okay, I’m talking about a LOT of rain. It’s been a wet and wild winter in Connecticut this year, and as it turns out, the weather washed out my book signing event at The Dublin in East Hampton last week. My wife and I still attended the event, and I had a nice setup, but nobody came, save one couple that we already knew. Oh well. Still, the restaurant is an amazing venue and I’m grateful for the opportunity to appear there with my book. I met the owner, Bob, who was super friendly and who has really built his restaurant into a central attraction for his community.(I don’t remember Bob’s last name, unfortunately.) I also got to meet Jack Matthews, who runs a Facebook group called Connecticut Authors and Their Readers Meeting Place. Jack works hard to find free venues like The Dublin around Connecticut for authors to display their works, and it’s really a kind thing for him to do. He recently announced that he’s got a few new assistants to help him divvy up the state, so hopefully I can hook up with his group for more events in the future.
So that’s about it for this venue, for the time being. Tomorrow Fight or Flight moves on from The Dublin to London (literally) as my book will be part of the London Book Fair thru Thursday. Actually, since they’re six hours ahead of us, they’re probably getting ready to open the doors soon. It’s the first time my book will be showcased in another country, so that’s exciting!
