Two Months? Seems Like Two Weeks!

Fight Or Flight: A South Side Story

Forbidden love and fierce rivalry drive Jeff Hollister, a street-smart high school senior and gang leader of the Hurricanes, to the brink of disaster. Thinking he’s got the world in his back pocket, and the police at a safe distance, he and his scrappy gang of teenage delinquents come to discover they don’t always come out on top after all.

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been nearly two months since I held my Book Launch event on June 16th at Nevers Park in South Windsor, CT. I wanted to post about it sooner, but July was one crazy month, and with all the other demands on my time, I really struggled to get back to this website. WordPress is quite a bit different from the site builder I used  (Squarespace) when I was a wee blogger at Trinity College. Now, I had a great time at the book launch, and the crowd was pretty amazing–it was so cool to have so many friends and family come out to show their support for me as a newly published author! (I’ll share more on that and other events as I build this site up but I don’t want to drone on about it too much at the moment.)

I probably signed about 35 or so copies of Fight or Flight for the folks at the Book Launch, and I’ve signed numerous copies for others as well, outside of the event. But now that the initial buzz is dying down, it’s time to move beyond my comfort zone and get out there into the real world, and maybe take some lumps along the way. I’ve got another event on September 23rd at the SW Apple Festival in town, and I’m trying to get into the CAPA book event in early October in West Hartford, although I’m on a waitlist right now. I also was approached at the launch by a teacher in the Hartford school system who is working on a book reading event at his school. That sounds like a blast!  I’ve got a lot that I want to post about here, including contests, connections between the book and my hometown, collaborators on my project, and of course the Fight or Flight Full-Cast Audiobook! (Lots more on that to come.) I’m working on creating an email list and I’m striving to have it up and running in the near future. I hope you’ll sign up for it and come along for the ride! It should be lots of fun!

Here’s a pic of my friend Rich Todte with me at the book signing, He’s a Dallas Cowboys and Toronto Blue Jays fan but I tolerate him anyway.
